At the 7mm NGA‘s Surrey Area Group Autumn Modelling Day, I took my four module boards to set up in the hall with Brian’s, partly to show other people the concept but also to try out other operating methods.
At shows, we’ve previously used Brian’s Digitrax Super Chief system together with a laptop running JMRI, a wireless access point and iPhone/iPod controllers running Withrottle. This time, we simply hooked up my Digitrax Zephyr unit and the layout worked superbly!
We then hooked up two temporary Digitrax UP5 control points which I’d created plywood surrounds for and added a Digitrax DT402 controller and promptly had two and three trains running. It looked a bit silly on a single track main line but it was a trial.
The day was successful as it helped convince two new members to join the group, as well as join in Frem0n30 modular railway modelling. Subsequently, we’ve had one other person join the modular group and we’ve sold two module kits!
We’ll be at the Seaboard Southern Annual Exhibition again this year, on Saturday 17th September at the Charis Centre, Crawley. Do pop along and see us.
