Installing the Gapmasters

Tim Horn‘s board kits have the centre line marked accurately* on the top surface to aid in laying track. The Frem0n30 standards demand that the track is laid right to the baseboard edge, which obviously makes it vulnerable in transit. This is where the Gapmasters┬ácome in, both aligning and anchoring the track at the interface.

Gapmasters were installed at the edge of the boards, carefully centred, and stuck down with Araldite two-part expoxy adhesive. Unfortunately, my supply was old and it took much longer than expected to go off. As a result, only those on the straight boards were installed and the track has had to wait.

This small progress was achieved at the Surrey Area Group‘s Operating Day at Merstham Village Hall on Saturday 18th April 2015.

* one of the boards had a very minor defect in that the line┬áhad been marked twice and one of them was off. However, it wasn’t enough of an issue to request a replacement.
