Stretched Davenport

Narrow Gauge Railway Modeller’s Online has a Classifieds section and, under For Sale, I saw a locomotive that really grabbed my attention. Usually, I’m not that taken with second-hand, half-finished projects but, I think you’ll agree, this is a bit different.

xgmThe heritage is a bit obvious to H0 and 0n30 modellers; 1½ Bachmann 0n30 Davenport bodies spliced together on a Bachmann H0 GE 45t chassis. In addition, there is a few parts from the Backwoods Miniatures Davenport Dress-Up Kit and a decoder fitted inside, all for the princely sum of £90 on the doorstep – irresistible!

Bachmann H0 GE 45tIt’s a second-hand, half-finished project, however good value it was. I want to add hand rails, an engineer, clutter and junk details, front and rear lights, and a dirty paint job. I’m not convinced by the yellow but others area. I’ll probably break it up with black roof and bonnet top.

So, having confirmed that it ran as well as it looks, it’s now in the queue for the workshop.

In the meantime, here’s a video of it running on the rolling road.
