Mount Blue Model Company Freelance Switcher

The Mount Blue Model Company produces a number of 0n30 kits to fit on Bachmann mechanisms and underframes. This is the build of the Freelance Diesel Switcher, which is about half way down the page linked to above. I got mine from EDM Models.

This kit is simple, and designed to fit on the chassis I have. It took ages to get the right one, waiting for a price as was willing to pay. In the end, I won an auction for a DCC-Ready chassis at the same time as I bought a Sound-Onboard one at a show, so I had to buy another kit!

Using laser-cut components, you make up plywood boxes onto which you then apply the self-adhesive veneer details. As you can see the louvres stand out very well in the raw wood. It’ll be interesting to see once I’ve got some primer on it.

This first kit will be sold, using the DCC-Ready chassis and a spare decoder that I’ve got, to finance the second one which I’ll keep.
